One such blockchain is Solana, with its tokens seeing massive followership in previous weeks. In this article, we will be looking at the top 5 tokens housed on the Solana blockchain.
What is Solana?
Solana is a blockchain specifically designed to house decentralized applications or dApps. It was created in 2017 and is currently being run by the Solana Foundation. The foundation has an office in Geneva. However, the blockchain was built by the San Francisco arm of the company. A few of the perks of using Solana include its lower transaction fees and faster transaction completion rate. The blockchain also houses its native token, Solana, which is used to carry out the majority of the transactions on the blockchain. Asides from Solana, other tokens are on the blockchain.
How does Solana work?
Unlike most blockchains, the developer of Solana, Anatoly Yalovenko, created it to thrive on a Proof of History concept. Proof of history allows the verification of time between different events. This allows it to access the ledger by using it to encode a trustless passage. In the Solana Whitepaper, the developer realized that most of the nodes on the blockchain used their own time to carry out transactions. This means that if a node rejects a message, the other participants would not have access to it immediately. With the Proof of History, every node records a trustless passage of time in the ledger in real-time. Aside from the PoH, Solana also uses Proof of Stake to validate transactions. After the PoS validates the transaction, PoH stamps a time and verifies it.
Top 5 tokens on Solana Blockchain
Now that we know what Solana is and how it works, the next step is to look at some of the tokens on the blockchain. Below are the top 5 tokens on the Solana blockchain;
USDT
Tether or USDT is a stablecoin on par with the United States dollar in terms of price. This means that the asset's price is stable and mirrors the dollar on a 1:1 basis. Also, this means that the token would always be worth $1 no matter how much the token is bought or sold. It was officially launched in 2014 by a Hong Kong-based company. It was also created to function only on the Bitcoin network but has been updated to work on other blockchains. As mentioned above, USDT is reading at $1 with its trading volume around $36,873,450,193. It has a market cap of $77,944,723,464 and a current supply of 77,908,751,039 USDT.
Solana
Solana is the native token of the Solana blockchain. The token is passed to the nodes, allowing the system to run programs on the chain. Solana is also used on the blockchain to make small payments described as Lamport's. Solana is presently trading at $112 with a trading volume of $1,462,200,716. It has a market cap of $35,730,189,778 and a current supply of 316,711,536 SOL tokens.
LUNA
Terraform Labs created LUNA in 2018. Two South Korean developers created the token. LUNA acts as the native token on the Terra blockchain. It is used to carry out most of the activities on the platform. LUNA is trading at $54.18, seeing a small decline of 2.24% in the last 24 hours. The token has a market cap of $21,722,143,761 and a circulating supply of 400,919,660 LUNA tokens.
Chainlink
Chainlink was created in 2017 to connect one or more smart contracts. It enables different blockchains to have access and interact with external information, among other things. Its native token is the LINK, which is used to carry out transactions across the blockchain. Chainlink is presently trading around $176, seeing a decline of 0.60% in the last 24 hours. The token holds a market cap of $8,230,918,509 with a trading volume of $487,852,279. The current amount of LINK token supply is 467,009,560.
The Graph
The Graph is a protocol that works as an index used in querying data. It is used to power applications across the DeFi sector. Besides that, it also provides the same service to platforms in Web3. Its developers are concerned with bringing decentralized platforms to the mainstream participants. The Graph is presently trading at $0.45 with a trading volume of $60,082,365. It has a market cap of $2,164,522,635 and a supply of 4,715,735,200 GRT tokens.

Choosing tokens to trade in the market is one of the hardest things. This is because you need to carry out a great deal of research into these tokens. When El Salvador legalized Bitcoin on September 7, 2021, most of the economies criticized their stance with the IMF compelling El Salvador to reverse the decision of adopting BTC as a legal tender or be prepared for the consequences in the near future. Fast forward to 2022, we do see other countries following in the footsteps of El Salvador like India recognizing crypto as an asset and taxing any trade-in cryptocurrencies at a flat 30% rate. And, Russia is on the cusp of tabling the crypto bill in the parliament which would make BTC a legal tender in the country. Such breakouts have again attracted Bitcoin whales and even long-term investors are again pumping up their hard-earned money to the crypto market, especially Bitcoin.
As a result, after as many as 6 months of sluggishness, BTC which slipped 50% in value from the historical ATH of 69,000 to $33,000, has started to witness positive optimism building around the crypto. The MACD or Moving Average Convergence Divergence for the first time witnessed a cross-over of 50 DAY Moving Average (MA) over the 200 Day MA. Hence, it could set the precedent for some good days ahead; but, the majority of alt-coins ended up as the worst crypto for investment despite BTC's much-anticipated breakout in the future. Apart from Ethereum, all other alt-coins failed to establish fresh signs of revival. For example, Cardano has dropped 19% after some positive actions lately.
Solana, on the other hand, recorded a sharp fall of 20%, Shiba and Doge witnessed no different fate by recording an unparalleled 35% to 50% downward spiral. But, there are a few cryptocurrencies that did lose considerable value within the last week making them worst crypto for investment in February which almost seems impossible to digest post their steady run all this while. In case you are not aware of them, read on to explore them now.
Worst Performing Cryptos of the Week
#5 LDO Token
The LDO token witnessed momentum building from February 5; however, post-February 8, we did see the momentum waning and the token continuously dipping to new lows. After registering some good gains on February 8 at 7.30 AM where the token was trading at 2.31, it has gradually taken a U-turn and fallen to a new low of $1.61 on February 11. In January, the token lost 35% of its value. Whereas, in February, the poor show continues with almost 50% value written off in a few days.
#4 Kadena
Kadena was a top-performing cryptocurrency last year, however, the market for the crypto has fallen in the last few months post the fear of bear market in crypto. If you look at the charts, KDA token has recorded an average 13% downside in its price. The momentum has stalled after February 8 when the token was trading at $9.24. At the moment, prices have consolidated at the $8.35 level with a 12.5 % write-off in its value at the time of writing. Charts suggest we are at the best buy zone though to witness an upside in the future.
#3 Waxe Token
WAXE token has witnessed no different fate where it has fallen after a good show last week. At the moment, the token has been trading at somewhere close to $358, which is 15% less than the highest point the token recorded on February 2.
#2 Convex Finance
CVX token had a good rally building up from February 2 onwards where prices shot up to as high as $29.91 from $27.32 recorded on February 8; however, the breakout failed to sustain itself and we saw prices falling as low as $25.21 on February 11. The token has nearly lost 20% of its value in a matter of a few days. Despite the sideways trend currently present in CVX prices, we are currently at the very low of that channel, hence the token losing its price.
#1 Arweave
Arweave’s poor show hasn’t been continuing for weeks but months. Even if you look at the 3 months chart, the token has been falling continuously mimicking Solana since Solana’s data is stored on AR Weave. Even the last week hasn’t been much on the brighter side with the token gradually appreciating to a $42 level on 7th February after a long downside. However, it was unable to build support for long and prices slid to as low as $35 at the time of writing. In the last couple of weeks AR Weave recorded more than 20% to 25% token depreciation.

Though these cryptos have fared worse this week, nonetheless, they do have a strong use case for the future. Especially tokens like Kadena. Ethereum Price At a Support – Buy ETH Now?
Ethereum price reached the $2,900 support. We already announced this support in the last article. However, this is not horizontal support but rather an area of support. This support area is between $2,700 and $3,000. Because of this, we assume that the Ethereum price will fall back into the support zone in the next few days. The reason for the thought is the Bitcoin course. The Bitcoin course has not yet been able to confirm the former resistance of $40,000 as support, which is why we also assume that the Ethereum course could still fall a little.

Ethereum Price Prediction - Here are the Targets!
We continue to expect Ethereum's price to reach the final target of $4,444. However, the price has two intermediate targets before the price surges to $4,444. The price could find resistance for the first time at around $3,400 and also bounce off and thus perform the first minor correction. After that, the Ethereum price could surge to $4,000 and bounce off the psychological level. Here we anticipate the price to drop to $3,400 to confirm the level as support. Subsequently, the price could rally to $4,444.

(High level takeaways below)https://medium.com/media/7b9a66be5a63161f98b8f7001a2394bc/hrefListen on Apple or SpotifyMetaverse and smart contract assets outperformPrice isn’t everything, but the two top performing assets in 2021 are indicative of broader trends throughout the year. 2021’s best performing assets were:Metaverse gaming tokensSmart contract platform tokensThe governance tokens of gaming worlds Axie Infinity (AXS) and The Sandbox (SAND) each posted 16,000 and 13,000 percent gains respectively. Meanwhile, platform tokens from Polygon, Terra, Solana, and Fantom, all posted 8,000% gains or more.Given that play-to-earn gaming had a breakout year, and layer 1s not named Ethereum saw strong adoption, these trends should be of no surprise. Now let’s dig a bit deeper.The state of Layer 1sEthereum’s native token (ETH) did a modest 2X over the year, while it was somewhat of a rough year for Ethereum DeFi blue chips, with the DeFiPulse index down 80% over the year vs ETH.The price of DeFi assets doesn’t tell the entire story, however. TVL of Ethereum DeFi applications showed tremendous growth over the year, and the number of unique Ethereum addresses interacting with DeFi protocols 4x’ed.DefiLlama and Decentral Park CapitalRegardless, ETH killers and sidechains won the year when measured by growth of overall market share.DefiLlama and Decentral Park CapitalThe great migration & the EVM standardIn May, there was $200M sitting in Ethereum bridges. That number climbed to $20B by the end of the year, underscoring the great migration of value from Ethereum to other ecosystems.The flipside, however, is that despite this migration away from Ethereum, most value still sits in EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatible environments.Remember that the EVM is essentially the brain of Ethereum that performs computations for the network. When other Layer 1s adopt the EVM, it makes deploying existing applications on new networks easier for developers, in addition to making it easier for users to migrate to these new chains.The dominance of value on EVM compatible chains (Avalanche, Polygon, etc) suggest that a standard is forming around the EVM. This should ultimately keep Ethereum as the gravitational center of the smart contracting world, as ETH applications and assets will be natively interoperable with most other chains.Rise of the app chainsWhile EVM chains still dominate the landscape, the end of 2021 saw a rise in value on Tendermint chains. Recall that Tendermint is a standard popularized by Cosmos, that lets developers build application specific blockchains that are capable of interoperating with one another.Building app-specific chains in the past came with significant opportunity cost, because they were cut off from most liquidity and users. With the growth of Tendermint chains like Osmosis (AMM), Umee (lending), and Stargaze (NFTs), that’s becoming less of an issue.Now that these app specific chains have a widening array of use cases and liquidity that they can interoperate with, look for more builders to take advantage of customizability that these chains offer in 2022.The ENS airdrop + DAOsIn 2021, ENS reminded everyone of Web3’s native user acquisition strategy: the airdrop.ENS (Ethereum Name Service) addresses are best thought of as email addresses that you can send money to (e.g. Jimbo.eth). After 5 years in development, the project shifted to a DAO model, and airdropped ENS governance tokens to every user with an ENS address.After the drop in November, awareness of ENS and registration of .eth addresses skyrocketed.Dune Analytics, matoken.ethSince the ENS DAO treasury collects revenue from new .eth registrations, revenue for the newly minted ENS DAO treasury ramped up significantly: another testament to how much a well orchestrated airdrop can move the needle.Dune Analytics, matoken.ethBeyond ENS, DAOs had a strong year, evident by the growing usage in key pieces of DAO infrastructure. Gnosis Safe, which is the most popular multisig wallet DAOs use to manage their treasuries, saw 3x growth in both the number of Safes and transactions executed in 2021. Snapshot, a tool that helps DAOs execute off-chain votes with on-chain verification, exhibited strong growth as well.EN-EFF-TEESActivity on the dominant platform for NFTs tells you all you need to know about the breakout year NFTs enjoyed.Dune Analytics, Richard ChenOG NFT CryptoPunks saw 60x YoY growth, reaching a total volume of 650K ETH, or $1.7B at current prices. This figure however, includes a flashloan powered $500M wash sale — a powerful reminder of how much subjectivity there is in on-chain data.The second most notable NFT project of the year was Bored Ape Yacht Club, which went from a niche community to the celebrity NFT of choice, including the likes of Steph Curry, Shaq, Justin Bieber, Jimmy Fallon, Paris Hilton, among others. At one point the BAYC floor (price of the cheapest NFT in the collection) momentarily flipped the CryptoPunks floor.In the heat of new issuances flooding the market, and older NFT collections achieving billion dollar market caps, the average price of NFTs changing hands did a 150x from 0.1 ETH to roughly 15 ETH by year end.Dune Analytics, Richard ChenOne of the most interesting NFT launches of the year was Loot (covered here), which let anyone mint 1 of 8,000 NFTs that could form the basis of a Dungeons and Dragon style RPG game. Initial excitement was skyhigh, before fizzling out as time went on.Dune AnalyticsWhile Loot’s flame may have dimmed, it was still a landmark year for NFT based gaming, with the breakaway success of Axie Infinity bringing play-to-earn and GameFi narratives to the forefront. As the data shows, Axie Infinity NFT volume dwarfs that of any prior NFT based game.CryptoSlam and The BlockLastly, while Ethereum was the center of the NFT show, marketplaces appear to be springing up across multiple chains. The data shows that lower fee environments are enabling different types of user activity. The Bitcoin price has stabilized slightly in the last few days and could rise more strongly if it breaks above $38,000. But if Bitcoin cannot break through the resistance, there is a risk of another sharp drop lower. What does the near future of the Bitcoin price look like? Bitcoin Price at Resistance just below $38,000
In the last few days, we have experienced another sharp drop in the Bitcoin price. It went from $43,000 to $35,000 in 2 days. The Bitcoin price has thus fallen below the $40,000 mark for the first time in months.
In the last 2 days, we have seen a slight stabilization of the Bitcoin price. It is now staying above $36,000 and trying to surpass $38,000 again and again. A resistance has formed here that needs to be broken. Looking at figure 1, we can clearly see the formation of that $38,000 resistance. It first was a support level that was broken, then turned into a resistance. In fact, back in August 2021, that same area represented also an important area for traders.

Can we reach a Bitcoin 40K Price soon?
If Bitcoin price breaks the resistance at $38,000, we could see a surge above $40,000, which would have seen the price recover from the last sharp drop. The $38,000 to $42,000 area has previously been cited as a key support zone from which Bitcoin could rally back towards $50,000.

This happens when you cannot use a technology to power up ambitious sectors like finance due to scalability challenges. Having said that, what happens when blockchain projects encounter conflicts within their own community, an unavoidable hard fork, and a long period of contention among investors to choose the right coin post the hard fork. What would you say to an idea where true decentralization can be inducted to power up the project? Preferably, one would say that it might be next to impossible to get the community to vote on everything and then develop, instead of vice-versa. However, there’s one project which is preferably doing that and it could be the next big thing in the crypto space. In case, you are wondering which blockchain we are talking about, it is Cardano! What is Cardano Blockchain? Despite some of the cryptocurrencies witnessing an unprecedented rise, they weren’t immune to conflicts of interest, hacks, and scandals. As a result, hard forks ended up as a trending term in the last few years. However, Cardano introduced the concept of true decentralization through its scientific philosophy and research-driven approach. The crux of the project is that even the developers and project founders do not have complete control over the project. Rather, the community drives everything through a free, open-source voting process that makes the entire project trusted, verified and scalability is driven through its consensus mechanism. How Cardano introduces scalability despite 100% decentralization? Basically, most of the renowned blockchains that the community trusts work on PoW or Proof-of-Work mechanism. Without a doubt, proof of work is a masterpiece consensus when you want very high security; nonetheless, one cannot use it for driving enterprise-level adoption. In order to do that, the blockchain must be fast but secure at the same time. Cardano’s Ouroboros algorithm, which is much like the heart of the Cardano ecosystem, uses PoS or Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism that considerably saves on energy consumption and facilitates faster transactions. On top of this, the Recursive Internet Worked Architecture( RINA) allows scaling the ecosystem to meet enterprise-level adoption. For example, African countries are thinking of adopting Cardano as a payment network in their country. How does RINA help in scaling the Cardano Ecosystem? Basically, most blockchains start to choke out when enterprises adopt their ecosystem. The prime reason for the same is an overflow of data to their ecosystem. As a result, network bandwidth becomes an unavoidable holy grail that hasn’t been solved yet. Since all existing networks work on TCP/IP model, commanding scalability to happen while using a restrictive blockchain layer would mean asking a fish to climb a tree. That said, Cardano introduces RINA or Recursive Internet Worked Architecture which breaks the network layer into two: (1) Data transfer layer (2) Data management layer. However, in case you are wondering how communication would happen between both layers to validate the entries, a default network security layer acts as a subset for both layers. Why is Cardano a Must BUY for the future? The recent explosion in the DeFi market has established the fact that as time passes, we could see more use-cases building on top of DeFi. Earlier we did see the DeFi 1.0 storm, now we are seeing the DeFi 2.0 storm where protocols have turned smarter and they control much of their liquidity on their own. In the near future, more use cases would emerge and the much anticipated Hydra upgrade would allow quickening of transactions on the ADA-USD chain at a fraction of a cost. As a result, preferably the DeFi ecosystem might look forward to moving to the Cardano ecosystem instead of Solana due to the latter's network outage track record. At the same time, investors need not have to worry about hard forks and their initial tokens losing value since the peered review is going to turn mainstream on the Cardano network. All of these would make Cardano a preferred buy option for the upcoming future ahead. Why is the present Cardano price a good entry point? Though most of the cryptocurrencies witnessed an inevitable bloodbath in the market recently, Cardano, often considered an underdog project, performed outrageously.
